Get your feet up! The joy of recliner seating

We sell a huge range of seating, including corner sets, two and three-seater sofas and traditional three-piece suites. One item that is constantly popular is the recliner chair – and for good reason.

Get your feet up!

After a long, tiring day, you deserve to make yourself comfortable for the evening. It’s also good for you. Raising your feet and lower legs is beneficial to your circulation, as well as preventing pressure points from sitting in the same position for long periods. Who could blame you, if you had a little well-earned doze?

Space-saving comfort

The adaptability of a reclining seat lies (sorry!) in the integral footrest. You can stretch out and relax whenever the mood takes you – but you don’t have to clutter up your living room with a footstool or pouffe. As you get up, simply return the footrest to its original position and it won’t take up any more space than a conventional chair.

Match your suite

The original reclining seating designs were stand-alone items, often in leather, such as the original La-Z-Boy recliner. They were developed from the wooden-slatted porch chair. Other practical designs resembled hospital seating and were intended for patients with mobility problems. Today’s luxurious recliner seating comes in a range of designs and is integral to your suite. Covered in the same fabric, they are indistinguishable from the rest of the suite once they’re returned to the upright position.

How to buy a recliner

You need to be sure that you will be comfortable in your new reclining chair, whether you’re short or tall. Come along to the Gloucester Furniture showroom to try out a few models before you buy. It’s important to make sure that the whole of the lower leg and foot is supported by the raised leg-rest. For any sofa, your hips should nestle against the back of the seat, which should gently slope backwards when in the upright position. Make sure you can easily reach the lever or button that reclines the seat, if there is one. Then all that remains is to imagine yourself relaxing into your new purchase and spending your leisure hours at home in comfort.
